To Do List - Fall 2008
This check list is designed to help you track some of the major "to-dos" to complete before your arrival. Many of the items are time-dependent. While we ask that you complete all items in a timely fashion, in most cases you won't be able to "get ahead" either.

June
To Do List » Update Addresses
Did you move? Did your mailing address change? If so, Cornell needs to know so that you receive all of the mail and information you are supposed to this summer. Before you get your NetID, log into Cornell’s application self-service system at admissions.cornell.edu/selfservice, to report an address change. After you have activated your NetID, visit Just the Facts/Student Center at jtf.cornell.edu to make sure that all of your addresses (mailing, emergency) are correct.
To Do List » Sign your housing contract
At the end of June, you will be receiving an email from the Housing and Dining office with your housing assignment and contract signing instructions. Make sure you have activated your NetID and email address and check often so that you don't miss out on housing.
To Do List » Check uPortal & Cornell Email weekly
uPortal.cornell.edu is your gateway to web mail, college and university announcements, personal calendars and more. Bookmark it now—uportal.cornell.edu— and check it often.
July
To Do List » Sign up for your Big Red Sports Pass
Gain access to all Cornell sporting events (except men's ice hockey) for free, if you sign up for the Big Red Sports Pass (NetID required). There's a charge if you wait until fall.
To Do List » Read Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words That Remade America by Gary Wills
All new students will be reading this book to prepare for the in-depth discussions that will take place in August during Orientation. Look for your copy with study questions (these will help you write your essay) in the mail accompanying your New Student Orientation Guide. Read more about this year's book and the events planned for when you arrive on campus.
To Do List » Health Insurance
All students are required to have quality health insurance - either your own or the one offered through the Student Health Insurance office. You will automatically be enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) - to waive SHIP enrollment, you must complete and submit the waiver application. Look for the July mailing that will include benefit information, waiver instructions, and rates.
After you receive the mailing in July, you can go to the SHIP website to sign up or waive the Cornell Student Health Insurance Plan. You will be able to link to their website from here in the summer.
To Do List » Copyright Education Course
While it may be common practice to download and share copyrighted music and video over the internet, it is against the law and a violation of university policy. Cornell students have been and continue to be targeted by the recording industry, facing thousands of dollars in fines. Learn the facts and Cornell's policy at ecornell.com/fileshare.
To Do List » New Student Registration Preview
Your Preview (NetID required) is a glimpse of what you'll need to take care of at New Student Registration on August 22 in Bartels Hall. The more items you take of, the less time you'll need to spend at registration, and the more relaxed your first day can be. You are required to attend New Student Registration. Your preview will available after mid-July.
August
To Do List » Pay your tuition bill
Paying your tuition bill is one of the requirements of university reistration. Pay you bill by August 5 to avoid registration holds and finance charges. Visit the Bursar website for more information.
